Feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed? Read these powerful and inspirational calming quotes to encourage relaxation and a settled tummy

Sixteen and a half – this is the number of years British adults spend feeling stressed during the average lifetime. Broken down, this means we spend an average of three months per year and an average of eight days per month feeling stressed.
Stress is an inevitable part of life, but long-term stress can have a negative impact on your gut health; evidence shows it can cause constipation, diarrhoea, indigestion or an upset stomach. What’s more, chronic stress over prolonged periods can trigger Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and other gastrointestinal disorders. I’m not telling you this to dampen your spirits, but to highlight how vital it is to prevent and address stress now.
The good news is that there are things we can do to combat stress; reading calming quotes always helps me to de-stress and regain perspective when I feel overwhelmed. So, to mark International Stress Awareness Day and International Stress Awareness Week, – an annual event created by the International Stress Management Association in 2018 to raise awareness about stress prevention – I’m sharing some powerful quotes that have helped me during challenging times in the past. They’re not a cure for stress, but I hope they can bring peace and comfort to you in some way too.

I’m a sucker for quotes and these are brilliant! Great timing – the “give your stress wings and let it fly away” is a quote used on the back of the Bed Of Nails acupressure mat I’ve just reviewed.

Picking a favourite is too hard because I’m so indecisive. I suppose 11 and 12 spoke to me in particular at the moment. I’ve got no12 for a blog post draft I started on acceptance with health conditions, but it’s another one of those that have sat in my drafts folder, untouched and barely started, for aaaaages. Maybe one day I’ll get around to doing it! xx

I totally understand; sometimes it depends what mood I’m in as to which resonates with me the most. Great choices though! I hope you are able to write that blog post at some point as it sounds really interesting and I’d love to read it. All in good time, though. It’ll be worth the wait I’m sure! 🙂
